Hunor Cs\u00e1sz\u00e1r has extended his contract with Gyergy\u00f3i Hoki Klub for another three years \u2013 we announced recently. We spoke with the forward about the background of his decision, his experiences over the past years, his development, and his goals, as he is about to begin his fifth season wearing the GYHK jersey.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ve been a GYHK player since 2021, and now you\u2019ve extended your contract for another three years. What motivated you the most in making this decision?<\/strong>
I already knew during the season that I wanted to stay, as we had discussed it several times with the management. When the time came to make the decision, everything went smoothly. It was always clear to me that I wanted to stay. I\u2019m about to start my fifth season in Gyergy\u00f3, and I feel really good here. Even in my first year, there were teammates I already knew, but even beyond that, everyone welcomed me very quickly \u2014 not just the players, but the staff as well. Over the years, I\u2019ve met many great people, made friendships, and I\u2019ll always look back on these times with joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to head coach Zolt\u00e1n Szilassy, you\u2019ve been making visible progress year by year. How do you see your own development? Where do you feel you\u2019ve made the biggest improvement?<\/strong>
I have definitely changed and developed \u2014 not just as an athlete, but as a person too. Looking back on my journey so far, I can see there were ups and downs: I had great periods, but also low points. One important lesson for me is that if I want to take things to the next level, I need structure \u2014 I need to find balance. Once that balance is there, everything else becomes easier to work on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What goals do you have for the next three years in Gyergy\u00f3?<\/strong>
The team\u2019s goal remains the same: in the coming years, we want to add more championships to GYHK\u2019s name. On a personal level, I want to give my absolute best and put everything I have into it. As Zoli and I already discussed, the primary task and goal is to improve my weaknesses and, at the same time, to gradually show more and more \u2014 even things people may not have seen from me before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you feel within the Gyergy\u00f3 community? What is it like to live and play here?<\/strong>
Gyergy\u00f3 is a small town, and that comes with many advantages. People are much more open and approachable \u2014 they often stop me on the street to chat for a bit, which always feels nice. I don\u2019t just see my teammates during practices or games; we also spend time together off the ice. We often hang out, and we even know each other\u2019s families. I feel like this is one of the keys to our success: that we\u2019re so close to each other, and because of that, we can sense one another better on the ice as well. This is also one of the reasons why I chose to stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What message would you like to send to the fans?<\/strong>
I\u2019d say: never stop this amazing habit of yours! When we thank you for your support, it\u2019s not just an empty phrase \u2014 we\u2019re truly grateful that you\u2019re there for us game after game, cheering for the team.
