Owen Williams, who we have got to know very well over the past few years, will continue his career at Gyergyó. For those of you who don’t immediately remember who he is, he is the defender who scored a hattick against us in the first game of last season for Corona Brasov.
Born in Canada, the 24-year-old was signed in 2021 by Corona Brasov, where the 6’4″, 95 kg player played four seasons, playing a dominant role for one of our biggest rivals, both on defense and offense.
In the meantime, he also acquired Romanian citizenship, which allowed him to attend the World Cup in Sfântu Gheorghe, which also means that he is not a legionnaire, but a domestic player.

I sensed that he was keen to join us and as a result we were able to reach an agreement pretty quickly. As for our transfer concept this year, we want to strengthen our domestic contingent also because of our Continental Cup appearance, but still, to sign such an excellent Romanian national team full-back is a very big weapon in my opinion.
